Dr. Dilkhush Panjwani is a Consultant Staff Psychiatrist at Trillium Health Partners and Lecturer, Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto. He is dedicated to lifelong learning, eliminating stigma of mental illness and building bridges of friendship between communities organizations. He has practiced community psychiatry for over forty years in three continents. He has special interest in Mood Disorders, Chronic Pain Disorders, Psychopharmacology, Community Mental Health, Transcultural Psychiatry and Spirituality & Mental Health. He has a good command of English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Urdu. He has volunteered his time, knowledge and resources for the betterment of society and fellow human beings. Dr. Panjwani has been recognized for his outstanding contributions and achievements by the Province of Ontario and appointed to membership in the Order of Ontario. The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada recognized Dr. Panjwani with the "2016 Prix d’excellence-Specialist of the Year Award" for his long-standing commitment to outstanding patient care and community health through professional and personal integrity. Dr. Panjwani's community contributions to Ontario were recognized with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Dr. Panjwani believes that persons with serious mental illness have a Human Right to mental health treatment programs and a right to get better through accessible and equitable treatment. He has consistently promoted interfaith and inter-cultural dialogue by facilitating effective partnerships between government, community organizations and the media, for better understanding of issues facing the community. He has promoted pluralism by connecting people of diverse religious and cultural background. Dr. Panjwani is one of the founding members of the annual Lions Community Walk/Run for Happiness in support of Mental Health. He raised large amount of funds that were donated to Markham Stouffville Hospital, CMHA and Ontario Shores Foundation & Centre for Mental Health Sciences. He has taken every opportunity to impart mental health awareness and education through public and professional lectures on the negative impact of stigma of mental illness.
