Department of Psychiatry (DoP) Administrative Excellence Award

Purpose of the Award

The DoP Administrative Excellence Award recognizes outstanding contributions by administrative staff in support of the Department of Psychiatry. This award aims to highlight and celebrate the dedication, professionalism, excellence, and EDIIA demonstrated by administrative staff members who play a vital role in advancing the Department’s mission and operations.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The award is open to any administrative staff member who has provided exceptional support to the Department, regardless of their primary affiliation.
  • Eligible nominees may be employed at the University of Toronto, hospital, or other partner organizations affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry.
  • Nominees must have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, innovation, and commitment to supporting faculty, staff, learners, and Department initiatives.

Nomination Process

  • Nominations may be submitted by University of Toronto staff and faculty members.
  • Each nomination must include a written statement (maximum 400 words) detailing why the nominee deserves the award.
  • The nomination should include specific examples of the nominee’s contributions, including but not limited to:
    • Outstanding administrative support and service
    • Demonstrated leadership or innovation in improving processes
    • Significant impact on faculty, learners, or Department initiatives
    • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration
    • Dedication to equity, diversity, indigeneity, inclusion, and accessibility

Selection Process

  • A selection committee will be formed to review nominations and determine the recipient. The primary adjudicators will be the Labatt Family Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Psychiatry’s Business Manager. The committee may also include faculty members and senior administrative leaders.
  • The committee will evaluate nominees based on the impact of their contributions and alignment with the award’s purpose.

Award Recognition

  • The recipient will be recognized at the Department’s annual awards ceremony.
  • The awardee will receive a certificate of recognition and a monetary award of $500.
  • A feature article highlighting the recipient’s achievements may be published in PsychNews or the Department’s website.

Other Considerations

  • The award may be given to one individual annually.
  • The nomination process will be open for a specified period each year, with clear communication sent to staff and faculty about submission deadlines.
  • Feedback on the process and criteria will be reviewed annually to ensure fairness and effectiveness.

Applications may be submitted to the Department of Psychiatry Business manager via email at psych.businessmanager@utoronto.ca. The deadline for submission for the 2025 award is April 22, 2025, at 11:59 pm.
