Carly Albaum is a Clinical Psychologist in Child, Youth and Family Services and researcher in the Cundhill Centre for Child and Youth Depression at CAMH. She completed a doctoral degree in Clinical-Developmental Psychology at York University, predoctoral residency at the IWK Health Centre (Halifax, NS), and postdoctoral clinical research fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children. She is a registered clinical psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. Dr. Albaum’s clinical and research interests include mental health interventions for youth with neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning disabilities), and suicide prevention and intervention for children and adolescents. Her research with autistic youth has focused on therapeutic process factors (e.g., therapeutic alliance, treatment engagement) in mental health treatments, and her research on suicide prevention has explored the role of family conflict in relation to suicidal thinking and behaviour, as well as the effectiveness of safety planning interventions for adolescents presenting to acute care settings with suicidality. She has a particular interest in developmental adaptations in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and third-wave CBTs (e.g., dialectical behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy) to enhance treatment effectiveness for youth. The aim of her research program is to improve accessibility of evidence-based mental health interventions for young people and their caregivers. |
