Dr. Shari McKee is a registered psychologist at the Waypoint Research Institute and the Georgianwood Program for Concurrent Disorders. A proponent of the scientist-practitioner model, she divides her time between research in the field of concurrent mental illness and addiction, and clinical duties and supervision. She is the lead on implementation and program evaluation projects on both regional and forensic units at Waypoint, as well as provides clinical care to patients and training and supervision to staff. Dr. McKee has also provided training throughout the province in CBT for concurrent disorders and is the chair of the Waypoint Concurrent Disorders Steering Committee. Her clinical interests include cognitive and behavioural therapies for concurrent mental illness and addiction, DBT, PTSD, and trauma-informed care.  Dr. McKee was the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Practitioner award from the Canadian Psychological Association.


Research Synopsis

Dr. McKee’s research interests include knowledge translation, integrated treatment for concurrent disorders, and program development and evaluation. Her research pertains to psychiatric patients with concurrent disorders and mentally ill forensic patients.
