Sean Rourke
Sean B. Rourke, born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, is a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Scientist with the Centre for Urban Health Solutions with the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital and Professor of Psychiatry, University of Toronto. He is the Director of two national health research centres funded by Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR): the CIHR Centre for REACH in HIV/AIDS (focused on using program science to develop, implement and scale interventions and solutions in HIV/AIDS), and the CIHR Community-Based Research (CBR) Collaboration Centre for HIV. Sean is also the Director of Universities Without Walls 2.0 which is training the next generation of HIV researchers in Canada.
Sean is using implementation/program science approaches and CBR to mobilize and transform research efforts to have a stronger impact and influence on policies and front-line programs/services, and to help solve complex health problems for people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS. With his novel and effective approach to community stakeholder engagement, partnership development across disciplines and sectors, and innovative knowledge transfer and exchange and research-to-action strategies, Sean is leading efforts to have a major influence in getting us closer to ending the HIV epidemic in Canada.
