I am a psychiatrist and the Ambulatory Service Medical Director for Mental Health at Trillium Health Partners. I also have a passion for teaching and education and am the Postgraduate Education Site Supervisor for Trillium Health Partners. Studying opportunities for systems improvement is an interest of mine and I am currently a Co-Investigator and site lead for the Medical Psychiatry Alliance (MPA) Technology-enabled Collaborative Care study.
I graduated from the U of T residency in 2012 and began working at Toronto’s St. Joseph’s Hospital before spending 4 years working in Ottawa. My role at The Ottawa Hospital was as psychiatrist and Assistant Medical Director for Outpatient Mental Health. I was promoted to Assistant Professor with the University of Ottawa due to the recognition of my involvement in teaching and supervising medical students and residents. I received the “Best new resident supervisor” award and became acting Postgraduate Site Education director.
Since my relocation back to the Toronto area in my role at Trillium Health Partners, I have been actively involved in teaching and supervising medical students and residents during their rotations, tutoring for the ICE course, CBL course and acting as an OSCE examiner. I have just received the MD Program Teaching Award of Excellence.
I am passionate about teaching and academics. I believe in lifelong learning and am actively engaged in participating in opportunities to further my own studies as well. In 2016, I completed the Physician Leadership Development Program through the OMA and the Schulich School of Business and received a Masters Certificate. I frequently attend conferences and courses to deepen my understanding of psychiatry, medical education and academic leadership.
Research Synopsis
My research interests and pursuits are primarily through the lens of quality and systems improvement. I am clinically interested in early psychosis intervention and so some of the projects I am involved with are in this realm. My interest is in exploring opportunities for efficiencies in our current system using measurement based care, leveraging the use of technology and using collaborative approaches to best meet patient needs.
