Waypoint celebrated many accomplishments including receiving Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada, and the following highlights:

  • Research: The Waypoint Research Institute received a $200,000 CIHR grant to support patient-oriented research and practice in forensic settings. Dr. Zoe Hilton, Senior Research Scientist, was promoted to Full Professor, Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Nathan Kolla, Research Chair in Forensic Mental Health, was awarded a 2023 American Psychiatric Association’s Manfred S. Guttmacher Award.
  • Physician Leadership: Dr. Waddell was appointed as Associate Director of the Division of Adult Psychiatry & Health Systems and also named Regional Clinical Co-Lead for Mental Health and Addictions, Ontario Health Central Region. Dr. Kevin Young, Vice-President Medical Affairs and Chief of Staff continues to co-lead the Provincial Geriatric Leadership Office and joined the Ontario Health Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence Clinical Council representing the needs of older adults.
  • Collaboration: Waypoint is proud to be participating in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Pursuing Equity Learning Network and to be awarded the CCHL’s Award of Excellence in Mental Health and Addictions Quality Improvement for equity related work in Ontario Structured Psychotherapy. Dr. Katie Bingham was appointed physician lead for the innovative North Simcoe/Muskoka Specialized Geriatric Services program. Waypoint continues to lead in acute mental health service delivery, innovation, planning and research in OH Central. Under the Central Ontario Specialized Health Network, Waypoint is supporting the development and implementation of integrated care pathways for anxiety and depression.
