Surrey Place (www.surreyplace.ca) offers interdisciplinary assessment, diagnostic and treatment services to children and adults with Intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) residing in the city of Toronto. Surrey Place (SP) is also the Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) access point for the Toronto Region. In addition, SP staff provides extensive education and consultation services to community agencies and Northern Ontario.

This year saw the development of several client-centred care initiatives including the Genetics -ASD/ID Psychiatry Clinic (GAP clinic to provide psychiatry care for people with developmental disabilities and genetic abnormalities, with a focus on transitional age youth. In addition, Surrey Place continues to work in collaboration with community partners locally and in Northern Ontario.

We continue to deliver our University of Toronto undergraduate medical education programs virtually. In collaboration with University of Toronto, Surrey Place co-produced materials to support remote IDD community visits for 265 first year undergraduate medical students. Pediatric elective in developmental disabilities (PEDD) is a 7-week elective seminar series held in late Fall and Winter for 45 1st and 2nd year medical and nursing students from the University of Toronto. In addition, we continue to provide training opportunities to medical students and residents through selective and elective placements. We hosted 23 learners last year. Our capacity building efforts included working in partnership with CAMH and support the delivery of ECHO program for adults with IDD both at a provincial and national level.
