Annual Report 2022-2023: Division of Forensic Psychiatry

Division Reports

Submitted by Dr. Graham Glancy, Director, Division of Forensic Psychiatry

This was a Banner year for the forensic psychiatry division at the University of Toronto. Three division members were promoted to full professor, which is unprecedented for this small division. In addition, I have noted to the chair that there is now an academic culture where people strive to present at national and international conferences, institute research projects, write papers, and repeatedly discuss promotion.

Of particular note is the continuing publication of 10 guidelines for forensic assessment and report writing, 6 of which have now been published, and the other four are in translation, having been accepted by the Canadian Academy of Psychiatry and the Law as official guidelines. Partly in recognition of this, and her other contributions, Dr. Lisa Ramshaw received the Bruno Cormier Award for distinguished contribution to forensic psychiatry this year. Dr. Nathan Kolla also received the Guttmacher Award from the APA for his book on antisocial personality disorder.
