Dr. Halverson is originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario where he first completed his Honour Bachelors of Science at Lakehead University. He later went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Microbiology and Infectious Disease at the University of Calgary. Following this, he completed his Medical Degree and General Psychiatry residency at the University of Alberta. Dr. Halverson has recently completed his subspeciality training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Halverson continues to have an interest in research and with his background in microbiology, he has focused on studying the role of the gut microbiome along with the Brain-Gut-Microbiome axis and their role in various mental health conditions. He will be joining the Mental Health Program at Trillium Health Partners, within the Division of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program.
