Deanna Chaukos
Dr. Deanna Chaukos is a Consultation/Liaison psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital, and assistant professor at the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Her clinical expertise includes psychiatric care of patients in medical settings, with an emphasis on geriatrics and HIV psychiatry. She is the Associate Program Director for the University of Toronto Psychiatry Residency. She completed her MD at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, residency in adult psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital, and fellowship in Consultation Liaison psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Research Synopsis
Her research interests include: medical education, including curriculum development and program evaluation, physician wellbeing and the learning environment.
Dr Chaukos' research currently focuses on educational interventions in HIV Psychiatry for residents and community AIDs Service Organization workers. This project aims to bridge the gaps between community and hospital based HIV mental health care, while improving how healthcare needs of complex populations with HIV, substance use disorders and mental illness are taught to trainees.
