Adriana S. Carvalhal
MD, Msc, PhD
Dr. Adriana Carvalhal is Associate Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and a staff psychiatrist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Carvalhal had her medical and psychiatric training in Brazil where she also completed her Master and PhD. She completed her research training at University of Toronto with a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital. She has special interest in psychiatric disorders in HIV-infected patients and service delivery marginalized populations.
Dr. Carvalhal held several leadership positions including Head of Consultation Service at McMaster University, a Director of Medical Psychiatry Service at St. Michael’s Hospital, Psychiatrist-in-Chief at Kingston Health Science and the Scientific Director of Scarborough Health Network Research Institute.
