Sinai - Acute Care General Psychiatrist
Recruitment of Clinical (MD) Positions at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto
Sinai Health’s Department of Psychiatry is currently seeking General Psychiatrists to join our Department with an emphasis on the provision of General Psychiatry Acute Care Services at Mount Sinai Hospital. Preferred/earliest start date is January 2025, and applications from new graduates available to start July 2025 are welcome.
Sinai Health is expanding emergency, inpatient and urgent outpatient psychiatric services in an integrated fashion and there are opportunities for full-time clinical and academic work which combines or one or more General Psychiatry clinical areas ; these roles all include interprofessional care and learner supervision as part of our clinical services
There are General Psychiatry Outpatient opportunities providing general psychiatry assessment and short-term outpatient follow-up to patients referred from the Emergency Department (ED), the Mount Sinai Hospital inpatient psychiatry unit and community providers.
There are Inpatient Psychiatry opportunities as an inpatient staff attending MD working in a multidisciplinary team to provide patient and family centered care to patients admitted to our General Psychiatry Inpatient Unit.
Regular Shifts as part of the Psychiatric Emergency Services roster are also available to combine with an Acute Care General Psychiatry Role.
These roles include participation as resident and/or medical student supervisors on core or elective rotations.
Interest and capacity for supervision of structured psychotherapies (CBT, IPT) is an asset and mentorship is available to support this competency.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the clinical and academic activities of the Department of Psychiatry, including Grand Rounds, On-Call activities, and Medical Education.
This is a full-time academic position, requiring an aligned academic position description.
Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor or above at the University of Toronto.
This position is remunerated through departmental stipends (AFP and Sessionals) and OHIP Fee-for Service billings.
