Dr. Hucker has been Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology & Law at Queens University, Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto where he now Professor Emeritus. He also held senior administrative positions at all three Health Sciences Centres.

Over the course of his career, in addition to clinical and academic responsibilities, he testified regularly as an expert witness and acted as a consultant to governments and universities across Canada, the United States and Great Britain in the areas of forensic & criminal psychiatry and systems organization & reform, and authored a number of major official reports.

Dr. Hucker has lectured across Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and Australia and has authored or co-authored more than 100 publications. He has had a special interest in paraphilias and gender dysphoria. In 1998, he was awarded the Bruno Cormier Award for Outstanding Contributions to Canadian Forensic Psychiatry and Distinctive Achievements in the Field by the Canadian Academy of Psychiatry and Law and in 2017 was elected Fellow of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.

Dr. Hucker currently provides clinical services and consultations for Correctional Services of Canada. In addition to the Ontario Review Board, and previously the Nunavut Review Board, he is an adjudicator with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Discipline Tribunal and member of the Fitness to Practice Committee.
