Dr. Lazar completed his Ph.D in clinical psychology at Western University in 2011. He has worked in numerous inpatient and outpatient clinics, providing CBT for patients suffering from mood and anxiety disorders, as well as psychosis. He began work in private practice in 2011, and co-founded The Downtown Psychology Clinic in 2019, which has emphasized using evidence-based treatment such as CBT, when treating patients. 

Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in teaching and training endeavors. He has been involved in teaching the PGY-2 CBT seminar in the Department of Psychiatry since 2017. He has also presented workshops for the Sick Kids Centre for Community Mental Health and is currently the instructor for their CBT Level 2 program. He is also an instructor at OISE at the University of Toronto from since 2004. In that role, he taught and developed multiple courses, including CBT Fundamentals, CBT for Anxiety and CBT for Complex Disorders. He has also presented at national and international conferences on topics related to CBT for anxiety and psychosis.
