Jodi Lofchy
Dr. Jodi Lofchy is the Service Head, Adult Acute Care Psychiatry at St. Joesph's Health Centre and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. She is the Chair of the Canadian Psychiatric Association’s newly created Section of Emergency Psychiatry. Dr. Lofchy has created models of Best Practice in Emergency Psychiatry and has been the Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services at University Health Network and the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health. Dr. Lofchy completed a 2-year fellowship in Emergency Psychiatry at the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry in 1992 and worked in that setting until 2002 when she moved to University Health Network.
She continues to be involved in the development of formal teaching programs in emergency psychiatry both locally and beyond and chairs a working group on Competency Based Education for Emergency Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Lofchy was formerly Director of Undergraduate Education for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, and former Chair of the Canadian Organization of Undergraduate Psychiatric Educators (COUPE) and Chair of the Canadian Psychiatric Association’s Standing Committee on Education.
Dr. Lofchy has been an invited lecturer, nationally and internationally, to speak on Emergency Psychiatry and Medical Education, and has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards for excellence and innovation in education. She has published widely in the area of best practices in emergency and medical education.
