Amanda Abate
BSc, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Abate completed medical school at Queen’s University and subsequently completed her psychiatry residency from 2013-2018 at the University of Toronto. During residency, Dr. Abate was actively involved in a range of academic and educational activities, including serving as an OSCE and MCC QEII examiner, a resident teacher in the Personality Disorders Course at St. Michael’s Hospital, co-facilitating a Motivational Interviewing Workshop at St. Michael’s Hospital and as a scholar at the Year 4 Undergraduate Medical Education Portfolio Course at U of T. She has 3 co-authored publications, and during residency was also active in various medical organizations including serving as PRAT Vice-President and PGY-3 and PGY-5 Class Representative, and as a General Assembly Member and Social Representative of PARO.
Dr. Abate is currently an inpatient psychiatrist at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. She is also a member of the ECT treatment team, teaches residents, and is a member of various committees related to medical informatics, quality improvement, and development and evaluation of innovative care models.
