Orientation for New Faculty

Orientation for New Faculty provides an overview of the University of Toronto's Department of Psychiatry, providing new faculty members with everything they need to know to thrive in the Department.

This year the Orientation for New Faculty includes five events taking place on Oct 27, Nov 1, Nov 7, and Nov 16, some of which are in-person and some of which are offered online via Zoom.

You are welcome to attend all parts, but we encourage you to attend at minimum part 1, 2, 4 and one of either parts 3 or 5 as it relates to your own academic role.

Please note, attendance is REQUIRED for all new faculty within the first 3 years of appointment.

A Zoom invitation link will be sent to registrants prior to each virtual workshop. In -person registrants will be sent the agenda and details via email.

Part 1: (Required) Friday, October 27th: Welcome, Roles, and Tips for Success. Time: 8:00 am - 12 noon. Location: In-Person at the Faculty Club - Upper Dining Room Address: 41 Willcocks Street Toronto, ON M5S 1C7

Part 2: (Required) Friday, October 27th: Workshop on Mentorship. Time: 12:00pm - 3:30pm Location: In-Person at the Faculty Club - Upper Dining Room Address: 41 Willcocks Street Toronto, ON M5S 1C7

Part 4: (Required) Tuesday, November 7th: Workshop on Unconscious Bias. Time: 12:00pm - 2:00pm Delivered Via Zoom.

Please note one of either Parts 3 or 5 are Required.

Part 3: (Required) Wednesday, November 1st: Workshop on Research. Time: 12:00pm - 3:30pm Delivered Via Zoom.

Part 5: (Required) Thursday, November 16th: Workshop on Patient Safety/QI and Teaching/Education Scholarship. Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm Delivered Via Zoom.
