Dr. Nikhita Singhal

Dr. Nikhita Singhal is a PGY4 psychiatry resident at the University of Toronto who completed her undergraduate degree and medical training at McMaster University. As a member of the Department of Psychiatry's newly developed Clinician Scholar Program, she is collaborating on a project focused on enhancing child and adolescent psychiatry training in equity, diversity, and inclusion principles through the development of a series of virtual educational modules under the supervision of Dr. Chetana Kulkarni and Dr. Raj Rasasingham. 

Dr. Chetana Kulkarni

Dr. Chetana Kulkarni is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, based at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). She is also the Director, Undergraduate Learner Affairs for the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine and a Board Member for Canadian Women in Medicine (CWIM). She is involved in teaching, supervising and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows and interdisciplinary learners.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand current gaps in child and adolescent psychiatry postgraduate training related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles.
  2. Discuss innovative and evidence-informed approaches to designing and implementing EDI-focused curricula, including involvement of individuals with lived experience, using our project as an example.
  3. Consider how the educational offering we are developing can be adapted and made more broadly applicable for a variety of interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
