Description: The Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Department of Psychiatry of The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), are seeking to recruit an Academic Psychiatrist – Child and Youth Psychiatry Division. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Scientist and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.
CAMH is Canada’s premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorders, offering a wide spectrum of care, from treatment for first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research- intensive university in Canada.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a psychiatrist to provide care to youth with acute mental illness, including concurrent substance use disorders. Clinical Duties include clinical evaluation and treatment of outpatients, generally 6-18 years (the FAST/MAC services) with occasional up to 24 years (in case of coverage needs). The incumbent will be involved in teaching and supervision of medical students, psychiatry residents and fellows. The applicant will have their scientific appointment in the Cundill Centre for Child and Youth Depression and should have a research program focused on child and youth depression and associated conditions including anxiety disorders, substance use, somatic disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. The ideal candidate for this position must be known nationally/ internationally and respected as scientist with a proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and research funding from agencies and/or industry. As a Scientist, the successful candidate will be required to maintain local, national, and international collaborations, provide practical supervision of undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral research trainees, and technical staff. Participation in leadership advisory groups at CAMH and externally is expected.

The successful applicant must possess a MD Degree and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The position requires an individual who has a sub-specialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Candidates should also be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.

Remuneration is in accordance with the compensation of a psychiatrist in the province of Ontario.
