John Teshima
Dr. Teshima is a child and adolescent psychiatrist, who primarily works on a youth inpatient unit. Dr. Teshima also provide monthly outreach clinics to Temiskaming Shores, a community in northeastern Ontario.
Academic Synopsis
Dr. Teshima’s academic activities have focused on teaching and education for a wide variety of learners, including medical students, Psychiatry residents, faculty, and mental health practitioners in the community. He enjoys both direct teaching and supervision as well as curriculum and program development. He was the inaugural Director of Faculty Development for the Department of Psychiatry, establishing programs to help faculty with their teaching skills and academic career development. He is a regular contributor to programs at the Centre for Faculty Development. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Association for Academic Psychiatry, contributing regularly to the organization’s annual conferences and leadership. And he is a member of the editorial board for the journal Academic Psychiatry.
